Alexander Du Toit

Alexander Logie du Toit (March 14 1878 – February 1948) was a South African geologist.

From 1903 to 1920 he worked for the Geological Commission of the Cape of Good Hope mapping the local geology. This work formed parts of the observational foundation of the plate tectonic theory gaining prominence during the 1960s.

A crater on Mars was named in his honor.
