The Alvarez was a Spanish automobile built in Barcelona from 1921 to around 1923. Also known as the "MA", the car was a sporting cyclecar with brakes on all four wheels. It was manufactured by Jesus Battlo .
Alvarez is also the name of several people:
Alvarez is a Sephardic patronymic family name which has several meaning and several background; Arabic, Hebrew and Visigoth. It first found in Castile, the name theoretically originated in Visigothic times;
- Son of Alvaro (=The prudent one) or (=speaker of Truth).
Alvaro allegedly come from a germanous person, Halward; Hal= hidden, mysterious and Ward= guardian
- Son of Alvar (=Elf Army) or (=Light Elves)
Alvar; 1382 from Latin Calvaria. It theoretically stand for mount cavlary wich is the name of the mount of cruxification in Aramaic we talk of gulgulta or place of the skull; Golgotha.
However Alvarez does not have the same etymology in Arabic; it supposedly comes from Al-Faris or Faris meaning a Knight, Chivalrous or a Cavalier, and communally stand for "A heroic Knight who fought on horseback".
