Amen (television)

Amen was an American television sitcom produced by Carson Productions that ran from 1986 to 1991 on NBC.

The series stars Sherman Hemsley as Ernest Frye, a member of the deacon board at the fictional First Community Church of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Amen also starred Anna Maria Horsford as Frye's wife Thelma, Clifton Davis as the Rev. Reuben Gregory, and Roz Ryan as Sister Amelia, with occurring appearances by Jester Hairston , Rosetta LeNoire, and Bumper Robinson. Little Richard appeared in the pilot as Lorenzo Hollingsworth; in later episodes, the role was played by Franklyn Seales .
