Audi V8

The Audi V8 was an executive sedan made by Audi AG of Germany from 1989 to 1994. It was based on the Audi 200 and on the C3 platform, but with a V8 in the engine bay and permanent four-wheel drive, four valves per cylinder and a four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission (a manual was added for the 1991 model year). The V8 was made up of two Volkswagen Golf GTI engines put together, developing 184 kW (250 bhp).

At the time, the V8 was the flagship of the Audi range. It could be distinguished from lesser Audis by its separate grille, rather than one that was integrated with the headlamps. While most panels were different, apart from parts of the front and the front doors, it resembled the 100 and 200 models closely.

The car's base price in 1994 was US$58,700.

It was later replaced by the Audi A8, and could be said to be the forerunner of that line.
