The BMW E46 automobile platform is the basis for the 1999 through present BMW 3 Series automobiles. It replaced the BMW E36 sedan in 1999, and the BMW E36 coupe in 2000. The E46 will be replaced by the BMW E90 sedan in 2005, and the coupe replaced in 2006.
