The N62 is the latest V8 from BMW, built in Munich, Germany. It has an aluminum engine block and aluminum DOHC cylinder heads. The cylinders are lined with cast iron. It uses SFI fuel injection, has 4 valves per cylinder with VVTL and features fracture-split forged powder metal connecting rods.
In the International Engine of the Year awards in 2002, the N62 won overall as well as claiming the "Best New Engine" and "Above 4-litre" categories.
N62B36
The N62B36 is a 3.6 L (3600 cc) version producing 272 hp and 360 N*m torque.
Applications:
N62B44
The N62B44 is a 4.4 L (4398 cc) version. Bore is 92 mm and stroke is 82.7 mm. Output is 325 hp (242 kW) at 6100 RPM with 330 ft.lbf (447 Nm) of torque at 3600 RPM.
