Changan Ford is a subsidiary of Ford Motor Company in Chongqing, China.
The company produced 20,000 Ford Fiestas in 2003 and will build the Mondeo and Escape-based Maverick SUV. Production is based around so-called knockdown kits , partially-assembled vehicles imported to meet local assembly regulations. Ford hopes to increase capacity to 50,000 vehicles in 2004 and 150,000 soon after.
