Consumer Product Safety Commission

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is an independent agency of the U.S. federal government created in 1972 to protect “against unreasonable risks of injuries associated with consumer products”. As of 2004 its chairman is Hal Stratton .

The CSPC has the authority to regulate the sale and manufacture of most consumer products, with the exception of those regulated by other agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
