The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, commonly referred to as the FIA, is the governing body for certain major motor racing events. Headquartered at 8, Place de la Concorde, Paris, France, it consists of 157 national member organisations in 118 countries worldwide. Its current president is Max Mosley.

In 1950, they organized the first World Championship for race car drivers in racing events known today as Formula One.

In 1973, FIA expanded its jurisdiction to include rally racing. The Rallye Automobile Monte Carlo became the first ever FIA World Rally Championship event.
