GM High Value engine

The High Value engine family from General Motors is a group of large pushrod V6 engines. They use the same 60° vee bank as the older 60° V6 family, but the new 99 mm bore required expanding the bore spacing by 1.5 mm. These engines feature optional displacement on demand which can deactivate one bank of cylinders under light load to increase economy. Another future addition is a 3-valve design and variable valve timing, unprecedented technologies for a pushrod engine design. Many High Value engines will be produced in China by GM Shanghai and imported into the United States, while others will come from Tonawanda, New York.

The 3.5 L versions of the High Value family use a 99 mm (3.9 in) bore and 76 mm (2.99 in) stroke for a total displacement of 3490 cc.

LX9

The LX9 3500 incorporates electronic throttle control.

It is used in the following vehicles:

LZE

The LZE 3500 is a flexible fuel engine (it can use either plain gasoline or E85) and includes continuously variable valve timing on both intake and exhaust valves. It has a cast iron block and aluminum heads. Output is 210 hp (156.5 kW) at 5800 RPM and 220 ft.lbf (298 Nm) at 2800 RPM.

Bore remains at 99 mm (3.9 in) but stroke is increased to 84 mm (3.31 in).

LZ8

The new LZ8 3900 features the Displacement on Demand system which can turn off a bank of cylinders under a light load. It also offers Variable Valve Timing, an oddity on a pushrod engine, and has a Variable Length Intake Manifold. It is expected to produce 240 hp (179 kW) and 245 ft·lbf (332 N·m) with a wide torque curve. A 3-valve version will be introduced later.

LZ9

The LZ9 3900 has the same VVT technology as the LZ8. Output is 240 hp (179 kW) and 245 ft.lbf (332 Nm).
