Hammer and dove

The hammer and dove is the symbol of the Communist Party of Britain (CPB). Its design is obviously similar to that of the hammer and sickle, the symbol used originally by the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and latterly by most communist movements in the world.

The hammer and dove is usually used in conjunction with the hammer and sickle, and appears on all of the CPB's publications. Some members of the CPB prefer one symbol over the other, although the most recent congress reaffirmed the hammer and dove's position as the official emblem of the Party and is registered as such with the Electoral Commission.
