Indonesia national football team

The Indonesia national football team is the national team of Indonesia and is controlled by the Football Association of Indonesia . As the Dutch East Indies, they were the first Asian team to participate in the World Cup, doing so in 1938. But a 6-0 loss to Hungary remains the country's only World Cup match. Indonesia, despite the nation's size and population, is not among the strongest teams of the AFC (perhaps because of popularity of badminton). The team have also yet to taste victory in the regional Tiger Cup, despite reaching the final in the last three editions of the tournament (2000, 2002, and 2004). One win in group play in the 2004 Asian Cup tourney, their first ever in that competition, may signal a rise in the side's stature on the Asian football scene.
