The US version was known as the Scorpion picture - Scorpion and was modified to meet the U.S. emissions, lighting and crash test requirements. Spider versions of the Montecarlo featured a unique roll-back manually operated targa style convertible top.

Originally known as the X1/8 (later X1/20) the Montecarlo was originally conceived as a 'big brother' to the Fiat X 1/9. It had a similar mid-engine layout, with a larger engine and roomier interior. Visit http://www.montecarlo.org.uk for further information.
