Landau is a city in southern Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

Landau was first mentioned in 1106 and became the sight of an Augustinian monastery in 1276. Declared an Imperial Free City in 1291, Landau was later occupied by the French from 1680 to 1815 and then granted to Bavaria in 1816.
