Mercedes-Benz R-Class

The R-Class is an crossover SUV that DaimlerChrysler will offer in mid-2005 under the Mercedes-Benz brand. The concept was first seen at the 2001 Detroit Auto Show as the Vision GST (Grand Sports Tourer) concept, and the final production vehicle will be shown at that same show in 2004. DaimlerChrysler will assemble R-Class vehicles destined for the United States, and possibly other countries as well, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The R-Class will share its chassis with the forthcoming M-Class replacement. The production R-Class was shown at the 2005 New York International Auto Show.

Models:

  • R350 - 3.5 L V6, 268 hp (200 kW)
  • R500 - 5.0 L V8, 302 hp (225 kW)
  • R55 AMG - 6.3 L V8, 500 hp (373 kW) (possible)
