The Mercury Monarch was a plusher, more powerful version of a contemporary Ford car, having begun production in 1949.
In the 1970s, the Mercury Monarch was a mid-sized (by American standards) car produced by the Ford Motor Company between 1975 and 1980. It was a luxury version of the US Ford Granada. A still more upscale version was sold as the Lincoln Versailles (1977–80), which had evolved from the Mercury Grand Monarch of 1975 and 1976.
