The Mercury Tracer was a subcompact Mercury car.
1987
The 1987 Tracer replaced the Mercury Lynx. It was a rebadged version of the Ford Laser model already sold in Asia and Australia, which was itself a restyled Mazda 323. It was built in Hermosillo in Mexico.

1990
The 1990 model was Mercury's version of the Ford Escort, which, like the Laser, was now based on the Mazda 323's Mazda B platform. The Tracer LTS was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1991.

- 1.8 L (1835cc) MPFI I4, 127 hp/114 ft.lbf
1993
The Tracer was restyled for 1993. Engines remained the same.
1996
The Tracer and Escort were updated in 1996 with a much-changed exterior and a new engine. The platform remained the same as before. The Tracer was discontinued in 1999.
