Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis (September 10 (September 22, New Style), 1875 in Varena - March 28 (April 10, New Style), 1911 near Warsaw) was a Lithuanian composer and artist. During his short life he created about 200 pieces of music and painted about 300 paintings. Most of his paintings are collected in the Ciurlionis Museum, Kaunas, Lithuania. His works have been of profound influence on the modern Lithuanian culture.
In his childhood he moved to Druskininkai. Later Čiurlionis studied at School of Arts in Warsaw. He was one of the initiators of art exhibitions in Vilnius in 1907. He died at age of 36 in Pustelnik near Warsaw.
His name has been given to cliffs in the Franz Josef Land, an archipelago in the Barents Sea and a peak in the Pamir Mountains.
