Mount Wilson lies in the San Gabriel Mountains in Southern California. It hosts the Mount Wilson Observatory. The mountain is located in Los Angeles County, California in the Angeles National Forest.

Mount Wilson is the location of several RF antennas broadcasting the majority of television and radio transmissions to the Greater Los Angeles Area.

In 1926 Albert Abraham Michelson made what was the most precise calculation of the speed of light at the time by measuring the round-trip travel time of light between Mount Wilson and Mount San Antonio 22 miles away.

Mount Wilson is named after Benjamin Wilson, a settler who arrived in California in 1841 and built the first "modern" trail to its summit. There is also a Wilson Butte in Mono County and a Wilson Peak in Santa Clara County.
