Nantong () is a city in Jiangsu Province, People's Republic of China. It is a river port on the Yangtze River.
The population of Nantong city proper is about 800,000 while the area including the countryside has a population of about 8 million (2005) estimated figures.
Sights
Popular tourist sites include "Lang shan" (pinyin) meaning "Wolf hill".
This hill of about 200 metres elevation right next to the Yangtze River is worth a visit.
Economy
Cosco have a large port and ship repair yards on the river. Cosco (Nantong) Shipyard Co., Ltd, the first shipyard of the Cosco group, which is adjacent to the busy port of Nantong, one of the fast growing coastal cities open to the outside world and a short distance from Shanghai. The yard has 1120 m of coast line and is equipped with one Cape-size and one Panamax size floating dock. Cosco (Nantong) Shipyard handles approximately 150 vessels per year and has kept first position among Chinese shipyards in turnover and customer feedback. (Source [1])
