National is a brand of Matsushita Electric Co. that sells home appliances, personal appliances, and inudstrial appliances. This brand is only used in Japan after 2004. The "Panasonic" brand is used elsewhere. National used to be used on most Matsushita products, including audio and video outside of North America until 1980. It often was combined as "National Panasonic". Due to trademark restrictions by other "National" companies in the USA, Matsushita slowly converted over to Panasonic around the world, eliminating National in Asia in 2004, except for its home country, Japan.
