The National Patriotic Party is a political party in Liberia.
At the last legislative elections, 19 july 1997, the party won 49 of 64 seats in the House of Representatives and 21 of 26 in the senate. It was led by dictator Charles Taylor, who won also the presidential elections. These elections were generally not considered to be free and fair and it confirmed the party in power. Due to intensified rebellion in mid-2003 and increasing international pressure, president Charles Taylor resigned. New elections are planned, in which the party can show its real strength.
