The GA engine is a 1.6 L straight-4 piston engine from Nissan. It has an iron block and aluminum DOHC 4-valve heads with variable valve timing. The GA was produced from August 1987 through 1997.
GA16I
The GA16I is a 1.6 L (1597 cc) engine produced from August 1987 through June 1990. It was a 12-valve design, and one version was built with hydraulic lifters.

The GA16DE is a 1.6 L (1597 cc) engine produced from November 1990 through 1997. All GA16DEs had 16 valves and DOHC heads. The engine produced 115 hp (85 kW) and 108 ft·lbf (146 Nm).
