  • A Romanian pop band -- see Taxi.
  • An Australian exclamation, normally heard in pubs, clubs and bars following an act of discoordination (i.e. spilling drinks or breaking glasses). Suggesting that the uncoordinated party should probably be put in a taxi and sent home immediately.
  • A video game (Crazy Taxi) for game consoles in which players receive money and/or points for picking up passengers and delivering them on time to their destinations and performing stunts such as weaving through traffic, jumping off things, and speeding.

Etymology

The word taxi arose as short for "taximeter", which was made from French taxe = "price" and Greek metron = "measure".

Contrast with

Taxis (singular) -- an oriented locomotion in a gradient, usually of simple organisms (chemotaxis, magnetotaxis , ...). The word taxis arose as Greek for "arrangement", from the verb tassein.
