Toyota MZ engine

The Toyota MZ engine family is a V6 piston engine series. The MZ series has an aluminum engine block and aluminum DOHC cylinder heads. The cylinders are lined with cast iron. It uses MFI fuel injection, has 4 valves per cylinder and features a one-piece cast camshaft and cast aluminum intake manifold.

1MZ-FE

The 1MZ-FE is a 3.0 L (2994 cc) version built in Georgetown, KY. Bore is 87.5 mm and stroke is 83 mm. Output is 225 hp (168 kW) at 5600 RPM with 240 ft·lbf (325 N·m) of torque at 3600 RPM. It has bucket tappets and features fracture-split forged powder metal connecting rods.

The 1MZ-FE was on Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 1996.

Applications:

A different 1MZ-FE with VVT-i is used in the Avalon and Highlander. Output is 230 hp (172 kW) at 5800 RPM with 242 ft·lbf (328 N·m) of torque at 4400 RPM.

3MZ

The 3MZ is a 3.3 L (3310 cc) version built in Georgetown, KY and Buffalo, WV . Bore is 92 mm and stroke is 83 mm. Output is 230 hp (172 kW) at 5600 RPM with 242 ft·lbf (328 N·m) of torque at 3600 RPM. It also features VVT-i and forged steel connecting rods.
